As previously stated, and illustrated in the Biomechanics testing reports, correct support contributes to improved spinal alignment.
From a broad understanding of the adverse consequences of poor posture as illustrated particularly in workplace situations now governed by health and safety laws, it was conceived that poor posture during bed rest/sleep would similarly contribute to deterioration of health. On this basis a preliminary testing process, entitled “The Dynamic Effects of the Spinal Support Beddings Systems (now known as Ergolife bedding) on Recumbent Postures”, was conducted by researchers from the School of Chiropractic at Macquarie University, Sydney, and led by Dr. Ray Hayek BSc (Hons). Mchiropractic., PhD., FICC.
A range of male and female subjects were tested on a bed unit without Variable Support and then on the same bed unit with Variable Support introduced (Ergolife Zero Stress).
The methodology included radiography to determine the effect on the spine providing specific visual interpretation of any variations to spinal alignment.
The testing also incorporated pressure mapping to demonstrate the relationship of varying pressure on the recumbent form.
